Founded in 2010, Spice Youth Toronto Community Initiative (SYTCI) a youth-led non-profit organization, dedicated to creating a vibrant network of youth of Grenadian heritage in Toronto who are engaged, educated, proud of their heritage and excited about giving back to the community.
Spice Youth Toronto Community Initiative was the brainchild of four young Women who i d e n t i f i e d t h e need for an organized representation of Grenadian youth in Toronto. Through mentorship and guidance from individuals and community partners SYTCI has been able to provide Workshops, seminars, and host social events that have served to promote Grenadian culture, and contribute to the professional and social development of youth, not only of Grenadian heritage but of a cross-section of nationalities.
OUR FOCUS AREAS ARE:
- Education – At SYTCI we believe that the development of our youth is the key to empowering them to become fully contributing members of society. SYTCI offers workshops targeting youth, newcomers and young adults, 15 – 35, primarily of Grenadian or Caribbean heritage. Offered free of charge, these workshops are delivered by industry professionals and experts.
- Social & Cultural community events – SYTCI hosts yearly social and/or cultural events aimed at creating opportunities for young Grenadians to connect with each other and with other members of the community and to showcase Grenadian culture.
- Charitable Projects – Each year SYTCI members give back to the community by raising funds and/or awareness for a charitable initiative selected by the team. (#projectgiveback)
